MIKE MURRAY FEATURING ONNA B
MIKE MURRAY - Not Too Smooth, But Smooth Enough With A Twist!
In a nutshell he is an unassuming guy that lives in a high rise apartment who just happens to love soup, oh and who has developed this knack for music. A native New Jerseyan transplanted to Atlanta many years ago, Mike followed in the footsteps of his father as a pianist. He found many of his influences in the jazz and R&B world namely, George Duke, Stanley Clark, Santana, Earth Wind and Fire, Mandrill and ground breaker of his time, Paul Hardcastle.
Mike went on to pursue music on a professional basis in 2005 releasing his first CD entitled "Skyline" in 2007. Throughout the years, his smooth jazz transitioned to that of jazz with a twist of electronica, R&B and chill out, which he coined "CHazz" with ambient vibes. Twenty one releases later, you can feel the progression and experience the eclectic vibe of "That Guy" in Mike's current 2019 CD releases "Vantage Point" and the most recent "Love Language." This is Not Your Mama's Jazz.
NICOLE "ONNA B" WALDEN - Positivity Reigns Where Music and Words are Her Safe Haven. Anything, but Ordinary!
Writing was always a means for Nicole to escape the day to day realities of her life. She found out at a very young age that she could be anything she wanted to be with a mere stroke of the pen. A natural star child who found peace and tranquility in the universe and nature, Nicole is anything, but ordinary. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey, music and writing became passions that held a grip on her spirit. Born into a musical family, her first memories came from listening to vinyl nightly with her dad. Nicole's inspirations in music range from soft rock all the way to rock with jazz holding the top spot. Favorites are EW&F, Bob James, Pat Methany, Grover Washington, Jr. and George Benson just to name a few.
Nicole went on to play both the flute and piccolo for a total of 9 years, winning several awards for her high school. She also played with the National Guard to welcome home soldiers from tours overseas. With music being such a mainstay in her life, reading and writing of short stories and poems also fought for top spot in her creative wheelhouse. Nicole decided to use her many talents for motivational purposes. She was greatly Inspired by the works of Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou and Edgar Alan Poe. It has always been her life goal to spread love and light and uplift those who struggle much like she did growing up. Depression hit hard after losing a parent in divorce. Music and writing became her safe haven. With that, she decided she wanted to share her voice with as many as possible. Nicole took on the moniker Onna B (short for Onna Bugeisha, a female samurai) and went on to put her poetry to music which caught the attention of chill jazz musician Mike Murray.
Her current project with Mike Murray entitled "Love Language," served as an homage to the partnership turned relationship between the two. In her words, "Love is an action word. There is no better way to express love than to live it, breathe and practice it daily. It is important to find out what your partner's love language is and work to speak it together." The album is she and Mike's handbook on what love should look like in a time where it appears that it has become a lost life form.
